Originally built in
1896 by a young Englishman, Charles Waterhouse, Deerhurst Resort was
the first major resort on the northern lakes of Muskoka. At that
time, Deerhurst was accessible only by steamboat and consisted of a
main lodge situated on four acres of prime waterfront.
While
its clientele was predominantly American, Deerhurst attracted guests
from all over the world who enjoyed gracious hospitality, fine meals
and invigorating outdoor pursuits in the refreshing Muskoka air –
traditions that continue over a century later.
Spread
throughout 800 acres of idyllic countryside, Deerhurst Resort offers
various rooms and suites to suit a variety of styles and needs.
Guest quarters are located in low-rise buildings nestled throughout
the resort landscape. All accommodation rates include complimentary
access to an array of leisure activities.
From
its earliest days, Deerhurst was known for its fine meals and
attentive service. Once upon a time, menus were written out daily by
hand and a large woodstove dominated the Deerhurst kitchen. While
methods may have evolved over the century, their culinary and
service teams still continue that same tradition of excellence today
in three distinctive restaurant settings, an all-day room service
and a variety of seasonal outdoor patios.
