INNspirational Maine Motorcoach Tour

Day 1 Arrive Kennebunkport, ME
Welcome to Maine’s South Coast, and a very special tour. Your tour director will greet you as you check into your home for the next three nights, the historic NONANTUM RESORT. Settle in before a WELCOME DINNER. (D)

Day 2  Breakfast Cruise, Marginal Way, Ogunquit Museum of Art
Begin the day with a SCENIC BREAKFAST CRUISE. Nothing could be better than starting your day aboard Finestkind II with hot coffee, orange juice and a fresh baked muffin. Cruise north along the tranquil morning waters of the OGUNQUIT shoreline to the Island Ledges; a habitat of Harbor Seals. Your tour guide will explain the many sights along the way and on the return trip to Perkins Cove give a brief discussion of lobsters and lobstering. Spend free time in lovely Ogunquit, where you can browse the shops and galleries or walk the magnificent Marginal Way, which was given as a gift to the Town of Ogunquit by Josiah Chase of York and is now a paved footpath beginning (or ending) in a corner of Oarweed Cove near the harbor, then running for ¼ miles to the marvelous expanse of Ogunquit Beach. Each year thousands of people take this scenic path along the rugged cliff line, and, while Maine has several similar ocean walkways, Ogunquit’s Marginal Way is undoubtedly the most unique, the most popular, the most painted and the most beloved. Then, it’s on to a very special place - called “The most beautiful little museum in the world”— the OGUNQUIT MUSEUM OF ART. Visitors often ask how a nationally recognized art museum came to be located in a small coastal fishing village in southern Maine. The answer lies in both the beauty of the area, which lead to the formation of the famous Ogunquit Art Colony in the late 890’s, and the drive and generosity of the Museum’s founder, Maine painter and philanthropist Henry Strater. The Permanent Collection includes almost 500 works of art, including paintings, sculptures, photography and graphics. It houses one of the largest collections of ceramic sculpture by Carl Walters; watercolors by Eliot O’Hara; oils by Henry Strater; and drawings and sculpture by Isabella Howland. Tonight, enjoy DINNER. (B,D)

Day 3 Seashore Trolley Museum/Old York/Nubble Light
After BREAKFAST, tour the The Seashore Trolley Museum, founded in 939. Today, the collection contains over 250 transit vehicles, most of them trolleys, from all over the United States, Canada, and many other countries. It is the oldest, and largest electric railway museum in the world. Next, a visit to the OLD YORK HISTORICAL SOCIETY. Many of those who tour these museums sense they have discovered a treasure locked in time. You’ll be introduced to the ordinary – and extraordinary – individuals who built and shaped this town as you tour their homes and public buildings and see the things they owned and made. On-site living history demonstrations, gallery talks, guided tours, and self-guided walks enhance a visit to Old York. On any given day meet the jailer’s family, the Tavern Keeper, or the School Master. Take your picture in the pillory where criminals were once kept for public humiliation in front of the Old Gaol. The Museum Shop is located across the street from the Old Gaol and features many fine reproductions, gifts, cards, old-time toys, and books. Bring your cameras along to take a picture of beautiful NUBBLE LIGHT. Tonight, an authentic LOBSTERBAKE is planned. (B,D)
