The Hotel
Viking opened on May 26, 1926. Indeed, the Hotel Viking was the
"realization of the dreams of years," providing lodging
for the many guests of the 'Newport 100,' who came to the city for
the lavish summer season.
Since that
opening day, some 75 years ago, the Hotel Viking has proudly hosted
many famous guests including President and Mrs. John F. Kennedy; The
Astor's and The Vanderbilt's; as well as military leaders;
International Dignitaries and Yachting notables. During the recent
years, the Hotel Viking has been the proud host hotel for the
International Tennis Hall of Fame players; The JVC Jazz Festival;
The Newport Creamery Folk Festival and the International Film
Festival.
