Jekyll Island Club Hotel

The Jekyll Island Club Hotel was once the playground frequented by the Vanderbilts, Pulitzers, Rockefellers and J.P. Morgan. Today this national historic landmark offers the perfect setting for your next getaway. Experience grand dining, championship golf, tennis, croquet and explore the Jekyll Island Historic District, the largest restoration project in the Southeast. All amid the unspoiled natural beauty of Georgia's famed resort island.

January 8, 1886, saw the purchase/ incorporation of the Jekyll Island Club. The purchase, by a group of society's wealthy elite led by such names as Astor, Gould, Rockefeller, Morgan and Pulitzer, was done to form a winter hunting retreat. Architect Charles A. Alexander was commissioned to design and build a sixty room Clubhouse. The Clubhouse was finished November 1, 1887, with the first official season beginning in January, 1888. In 1978, the 240-acre club district was designated a National Historic Landmark. In 1985, work began to restore the Clubhouse, Annex and the Sans Souci into a world-class hotel and resort named the Jekyll Island Club.

The Club's guest rooms and suites have been custom decorated in a style befitting the elegance presumed by the original millionaire owners. Two-poster mahogany beds, armoires, chairs, sofas, desks and tables are enhanced by rich fabrics and plush carpeting. All rooms have interior shutters.
