the Bretton Arms Country Inn offers rooms that are graciously
appointed with attention to period detail.
Built as a
private home in 1896, The Bretton Arms was first opened to guests in
1907. For
many years, the Inn served as a gracious complement to the larger
Mount Washington and Mount Pleasant (1876-1939) Hotels. The Bretton
Arms became staff housing for The Mount Washington Hotel and was
closed in 1973. A growing demand for a gracious country inn led to
the restoration and reopening of The Bretton Arms in 1986, when it
was given its National Historic Landmark designation.
The Bretton
Arms' 34 spacious guest rooms and suites feature private baths,
in-room telephones and color-cable televisions, and are graciously
appointed with thoughtful concern given to guest comfort. The
intimate dining room of the Inn offers gourmet dinners and hearty
country breakfasts, while the cozy fire placed Parlor Lounge offers
a quiet getaway. Guests can meander around the picturesque grounds
and delight in the perennial gardens, or indulge in a peaceful
respite seated on the veranda.
