Today, in
keeping with the vision of owner Laurance S. Rockefeller, the Inn
defines country sophistication. Luxurious and eminently comfortable
lodgings, four restaurants, including the exquisite Four Diamond
rated Dining Room, and world-class amenities such as golf, tennis, a
fitness center, and both Alpine and Nordic skiing encompass the
Inn's offerings. But perhaps more important is the Inn's impeccable
level of service, which ensures that you leave refreshed, relaxed
and recharged.
The
original structure, built in 1792, was called Richardson's Tavern
after Captain Israel Richardson, a prominent figure in the town's
early years. Since the beginning, the Inn's fortunes have been
linked directly with the town's. During the first half of the 19th
century, Woodstock assumed the role of Vermont's legal center and
the town's prosperity took the shape of dozens of beautiful homes
around The Green and along the town's side streets.
The
guest room decor is contemporary country with charming touches, like
colorful handmade quilts, original Vermont prints and traditional
hardwood furniture. You'll find intimate spaces with wood burning
fireplaces and built-in bookshelves, as well as plush chairs and
loveseats for reading. All rooms have private baths, air
conditioning and several come with fireplaces.
The
dining experience at the Woodstock Inn & Resort ranges from the
formal elegance of the Dining Room, to the casual comfort of the
Eagle Café, to the cozy confines of Richardson's Tavern. Each dish
is prepared under the direction of our Executive Chef, Daniel
Jackson, with an emphasis on fresh seasonal ingredients,
particularly those that are native to Vermont.
